"Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) is a Central Sector Scheme of the Government of India that provides financial assistance to eligible landholding farmer families across the country. The scheme was launched in December 2018 and is fully funded by the Government of India.
Benefits
Each eligible farmer family receives ₹6,000 per year under the scheme.
The amount is paid in three equal installments.
Each installment is ₹2,000.
The money is transferred directly to the farmer's bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Eligibility
Farmer families that have cultivable agricultural land registered in their name are eligible under the scheme.
A farmer family is defined as a husband, wife, and minor children.
Beneficiaries are identified and verified by the respective State Governments and Union Territory administrations.
Required Documents
The Aadhaar number must be linked to the bank account.
Land records must be verified.
Completion of e-KYC is mandatory. If e-KYC is not completed, the installment may be delayed or stopped
How to Apply
Farmers can register for the PM-KISAN scheme through the following methods:
Self-registration through the PM-KISAN portal.
Through a Common Service Centre (CSC).
Through Agriculture or Revenue Officers designated by the State Government.
Important Notes
The primary objective of the scheme is to support farmers' income and provide financial assistance for essential agricultural expenses such as seeds, fertilizers, irrigation, and other farming activities.
On 20 June 2026, the 23rd installment of PM-KISAN was released, under which funds were directly transferred to the bank accounts of millions of farmers across the country.
